“So I am driving on the freeway 70mph and I get a message on my dash that says service shifter then every single light on the dash came on and started to make a beeping noise. I pulled over on the side of the freeway and then all the lights dissappear except check engine. I continued to drive to next exit and this time all lights came on again and truck appeared to be shutting off and turning back on while driving, steering wheel got hard to move all while all lights turning on, on dash. …”

NHTSA complaint #11656951, filed 2025-04, 85,000 miles

“While driving, out of the blue my truck will pull out of center and sometimes sticks when trying to pull it back. Does this mostly in left turns or on the highway. Is very dangerous and almost crashed on wet road. Took to dealer and they couldn't find problem. Took me only 5 minutes to find numerous complaints on line for the same safety issue. Some said that the rack and pinion was replaced by the dealer and the problem was fixed. I need to have this fixed before someone gets killed.”

NHTSA complaint #11386749, filed 2021-01, 8,300 miles

“I have owned a 2020, Ram 1500 limited edition since march 2020. When driving the steering sticks in the 11:00 position. If I release hand off wheel and steering remains in position. I have to pull the wheel back to 12:00 position. This problem started occurring about 2 months ago and has progressively been getting worse. I travel 1500 to 2000 miles a month and afraid I may over correct especially in heavy traffic. Spoke with dealership and they said this was the 1st they have heard of this issue. Have not found a solution to the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #11341072, filed 2020-07, 3,500 miles

“I was driving in the highway at 65mph while steering power shut off and warning on dash came on saying power steering was disengaged. I pulled off the highway shut vehicle off checked under hood and nothing. Got back on vehicle started it and warning had gone away and steering was ok. Drove for about 10 miles and it happened again. I was told to drive vehicle to dealer and they said it was a problem with the battery. Vehicle was in shop for a day. They called and said problem was fixed. I left the dealer, drive 40 miles and it happened again. Took it back. …”

NHTSA complaint #11327281, filed 2020-06, 1,900 miles

“As I was driving the cooling fans started roaring. About 30 seconds later the Service power steering light flashed and I lost all power steering. As I was trying to pull over the steering came back intermittently. This almost made me wreck because I would be tugging on the wheel to turn and then all of a sudden have almost no resistance and violently turn.”
