“Car was rear ended and I hit my head on dashboard due to the seat belt pretensioner and retractor not engaging. Car was stationary at a red light. Nyc police accident report: mv-2019-100-000731 report 731”
NHTSA complaint #11287659, filed 2019-12, 60,000 miles“My 2012 Camry hybird with leather seats. My problem seems to be related to the weight of the previous occupant, ie, if over 200 lbs and it will probably work correctly. But if the exited occupant was less than 200 lbs, the air bag will alarm and message for the (former occupant) passenger to use the seat belt. I'm trying to get Toyota to correct the problem but they warn me that I may have to pay to correct something that never occured before their recall.”
NHTSA complaint #10817390, filed 2016-01, 25,500 miles“When the seatbelt gets pushed into the buckle it does not secure nor stay latched. The vehicle was parked overnight and I went to travel and the buckle does not latch at all.”
NHTSA complaint #11384876, filed 2020-12, 163,000 miles“Noticed that the air bag light is on constantly, the seat belt light keeps flashing and the passenger air bag light is always off even if a heavy adult is sitting in it. The seat belt light keeps flashing always. Noticed this but thought as most times drive alone thought that as there is no passenger in the passenger seat most of the times and attributed the cause of the flashing seat belt light for that.but now know that this is definitely a safety issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10512349, filed 2013-05, 8,100 miles“When driving on a road and hitting a big pothole the srs light in the dashboard might light up and stay on as well as the seat belt restraint light. The vehicle was brought once before to the service facility of Toyota and this issue got fixed, when I asked the service staff why is that happening the answer was: if you drive in a big pot hole the connection to the sensor that is located underneath the front passenger seat might become loose which requires to be connected again and re-calibrated. …”
