“The seat belt did not securely hold me in when the car behind me hit me, I was at a dead stop and was rear ended, the air bags also did not deploy, and my face hit the steering wheel. The force of the rear ending pushed me into the SUV in front of me, the car was totaled. I suffered a concussion, whip lash, wrist and elbow injury and lower back was hurt after the impact. I was wearing my seat belt thankfully otherwise I could have hit the wind shield.”

NHTSA complaint #10761971, filed 2015-09, 77,000 miles

“Upon entering my vehicle I found that the driver's side seat belt was locked and unable to retract or be pulled forward. I contacted a local Toyota dealership, chicago northside Toyota, and made a service appt for that afternoon. Shortly before arriving at the dealership the seat belt suddenly unlocked and was movable again. Upon inspection, the service technician told me that there was fraying on the seat belt, and that was the cause for the inability for the seatbelt to retract or move. …”

NHTSA complaint #11192787, filed 2019-03, 20,000 miles

“While driving 2007 Toyota Camry, the car was pulling to the left. I tried to control the car. The steering wheel locked up, the car went out of control. Spinning and hitting the guard rail twice. The air bag didnt deployed, and the seat belt didnt hold or lock me into place while it was on. When the car came to a complete stop I turn the vehicle around from the on coming traffic, the brakes was giving out and the car was still steering to the left. I ended up in a ditch on the guard rail.”

NHTSA complaint #10443804, filed 2012-01, 79,000 miles

“On 4/05/2014, all 5 seat belts locked after pulled out so far. A week later on 04/12/2014 the rear passenger belt would not lock and could be pulled out as far as the belt can go without ever locking. I then checked the other 4 belts and they all do not lock. As my only means of transportation I have no choice but to keep driving the vehicle and have been hoping that this problem would resolve itself as there are no warning lights on the dash, none flash or stay on an extended time when first started up & there has been no damage/incidents which could cause this problem. …”
