“While driving the truck at normal speed 45+ miles and slowing down vehicle has severe vibration felt through out the car. It gets worst when braking slowly as it comes to a stop. Its felt on the steering wheel, brake pedal, seats as well as through out the entire truck. Took it to the dealership and they said it's normal but I have never felt this on any toyotas. I have worked for Toyota for many years and to have the dealership telling me this is normal is just crazy. I believe it's coming from the drive shaft or rear axle area but by me fixing my own truck is not going to resolve anything. …”
NHTSA complaint #11183998, filed 2019-03, 12 miles“the left side inner and outer tie rods pulled apart at threads at jam nut. The threads approx 2 to three inches of threads were 100% rotted. The jam nut showed no sign of being loose. It did not UNTHREAD. No noise or any indication ever of an issue. It happened at 5:15 am. It was dark. I was at best going 1 mph in reverse. If this had happened at road speeds the outcome could have been fatal for someone. For sure a lot of damage. I did not take a picture my bad. I did ask for the parts back but am 99%sure the part I got was not mine.it had a weld on it likely to move vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #11733180, filed 2026-04“1. Vibration felt when slowing down. Usually between 50 and 20. Below 20 it goes away. Feels like the tires are out of balance but my truck has 8k miles on it and I have felt it since the day I bought it. 2. Also when the transmission is out of gear and clutch is out or the rear end makes a squeaking noise when hitting bumps. 3. Clutch makes a noise when releasing it. 4. High pitch hum in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th when maintaining consistent speed. Took it to the dealer, the dealer was able to replicate the issues with comparable truck on their lot and brushed it off as normal.”
NHTSA complaint #11297191, filed 2020-01“Rear leaf springs are flat and curving in opposite direction causing vehicle to bottom out with only 100 pounds in the truck bed. This is a potential safety issue as control problems to keep vehicle going straight.”
