“The drivers side seat belt has detached from the anchor on the seat. The cable has pulled out of the crimp on the belt portion of the seat belt / shoulder harness assembly. I have not contacted the dealer about this issue. There was a recall for certain Silverado about this condition but my vehicle is not showing up on the GM website as being inlcuded.”

NHTSA complaint #11510335, filed 2023-03

“I was a front seat passenger in a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and was properly wearing my seatbelt at the time of the incident. The vehicle struck a deer, and during the collision, the passenger seatbelt failed to properly restrain me. I was thrown forward and struck the windshield. The seatbelt did not appear to lock or tighten as expected during impact. It is unknown whether the seatbelt pretensioner or airbag system activated properly. This created a serious safety risk, as the seatbelt did not perform its intended function of restraining the occupant during a crash. …”

NHTSA complaint #11725607, filed 2026-03

“My husband went to buckle his seatbelt and the thick metal coil within the plastic cover snapped. He was lucky it didn't happen in an accident. I immediately took it to the dealer, who took pictures and stated he needed to contact GM Customer Service to proceed. He said he's call me back later that day which he did not; I ended up calling the following morning and he proceeded to inform me a diagnostic procedure would have to be done to determine what happened. I asked if he had heard back from Customer Service and he said no. …”

NHTSA complaint #11419114, filed 2021-05

“Problem 1: passenger side seatbelt does not retract. Problem 2: the transmission failed due to a bad torque converter. This is apparently a well known problem that General Motors has been ignoring. The cost to repair is approximately $6,500.00 which, for a senior citizen is really going to hurt my cost of living.”

NHTSA complaint #11670569, filed 2025-07

“The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle and attempting to fasten the driver's side seat belt, the seat belt floor anchor detached. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the seat belt floor anchor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 260,000.”
