“On july 5th my fiancee and my 2 daughters were driving to meet her aunt in new jersey interstate 80. While driving my Chrysler Town And Country 1997 at the normal speed limit she noticed the vehicle smoking in the front vents. As the smoke progressed she was concerned and went to pull the vehicle over, as she did she was not able to use the brake initially and rode several meters before the car would come to a stop (over on the highway). …”

NHTSA complaint #10162340, filed 2006-07, 98,900 miles

“The evaporator heater coil and expansion valve malfunctioned. Prior to this, the air conditioner was not cooling the van. This happened since january 2002. The consumer was told by the manufacturer there was no recall on the above parts. The battery had been replaced on four occasions, the rear brake drums, the serpentine belt and tensioner had been replaced. Also the horn, driver seat rack and grill were replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10024175, filed 2003-07, 41,696 miles

“Since we purchased this van in 2001 we have had a problem with it not wanting to run, at first it was intermittent, but now it is just sitting at the shop. We have taken it in to the dealer 6 times, and to 2 other mechanics 4 times and finally may have found that it is the body control module. We have already spent thousands of dollars on this van and now they want another $1000 that we do not have. I have been reading lots of complaints on the computer concerning this part of the vehicle, why is there no recall for this???”

NHTSA complaint #10184152, filed 2007-03

“A tall beverage glass was placed in the cup holder of the van. Since the air conditioning on/off button is positioned in line with the cup holder, the button was unknowingly pressed and the air conditioning compressor was disabled which caused the van to become excessively hot and the person inside suffered a heat stroke. This is a blatant design flaw!!!!!”
