“Apparently the advanced track system (stabilizes the van to prevent rollover) automatically performs tests. The problem is that it does it randomly and while I'm driving. When it is in test mode, I temporarily loose control of my brakes and steering!!!!! It seems more frequent in that it has done it twice in the past month, today being one of the times. I actually rear ended someone today because my brakes did not work!!!!!! I think the system is a good idea but the self testing causing loss of control is dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! …”
NHTSA complaint #10354414, filed 2010-09, 123,000 miles“This is my second note to you about this, I have not heard from you concerning my first. Ford has been scamming people for over 10 years by using an oil pressure switch instead of a pressure transducer in all their vehicles (including my new 2006 e350). It does not indicate the amount of oil pressure (like all gauges do) only if there is pressure or not, basically the same as an idiot light. They tell us we are buying a vehicle with a gauge and it is not really one. I have 9 experts and mechanics that will testify on my behalf and dozens of letters from other individuals. …”
NHTSA complaint #10156027, filed 2006-04, 15,000 miles“Dt: the contact stated that while driving there was an acrid smell coming from the air-conditioning vents. The dealer diagnosed the problem to be an air compressor failure in the air-conditioning system. The contact has ten 2005, and 3, 2006 vehicles. All 13 had the alternators replaced by the dealer before the buses were put into service. There have been 3 alternator failures, 2 high pressure pump failures, 1 clutch fan failure and 5 vehicles with check engine light issues. Updated 8/15/2006 -”
NHTSA complaint #10163108, filed 2006-07, 16,832 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Ford E-350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to and independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the alternator would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The alternator was replaced a total of five times but to no avail. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10516070, filed 2013-06, 102,000 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Ford E-350. The contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically stall without warning. He is usually able to restart the vehicle after the failure. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer twice, but they could not duplicate the failure. His model year was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 05v270000 (electrical system:wiring). The failure mileage was 86,000 and current mileage was 90,000.”
