“I was traveling southbound on a two lane hwy. I slowed down and used my blinker to alert the semi behind me that I was making a left hand turn. Upon making the left hand turn, a vehicle passed the semi and tboned me on my driver’s side front and back doors. My airbags never deployed and I hit my head on my driver’s side window. The damage was bad enough that I could not get out of my car. Neither the front or back doors could be opened.”

NHTSA complaint #11517924, filed 2023-04, 109,450 miles

“The first episode was hitting a deer head on at 45mph the airbags never went off. The second episode was another direct hit head on from rear ending someone who cut infront of me. The airbags did not deploy either time and the police officers and everyone involved were surprised they didn't.”

NHTSA complaint #11394965, filed 2021-02, 74,000 miles

“Driver lost control while driving. The 2014 Ford EDGE drove into the ditch at about 45 miles per hour. Multiple trees were taken out then car collided front on with a large tree, which stopped the vehicle. Impact caused driver to hit head on the steering wheel, causing a concussion. The air bags did not deploy.”

NHTSA complaint #10908613, filed 2016-09, 60,000 miles

“This problem has been confirmed to exist in both a 2011 and a 2014 Ford EDGE. With a passenger weighting 72-75 lbs in the front passenger seat, the air bag turns on and off depending on how the passenger is sitting on the seat. This same passenger has traveled almost 50,000 miles in a 2011 mustang which has a similar sensor system and has never had the air bag turn on. We are able to reproduce this problem at will. This information suggests a problem in the Ford EDGE with the software that monitors the front passenger seat sensors and determines when to turn on the front passenger air bag. …”
