“Injury caused when power tailgate failed to slowly lower upon release. Upon release, the tailgate fell open instead of slowly opening as normal (it is a power tailgate). The force of the falling tailgate twisted my wrist and the tailgate hit my arm as I was unprepared for the tailgate to fail and quickly fall. The tailgate operated normally immediately after this incident.”

NHTSA complaint #11526277, filed 2023-06

“Multiple times while driving, the tailgate has come open, allowing cargo to fall out onto the roadway. There is no notification to the driver that the tailgate has been opened or that it remains unsecured. The problem has been recognized in other F-150s but I believe it is more widespread. I am unsure what causes the tailgate to open but it has happened multiple times in both city and freeway driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11522036, filed 2023-05

“Rear passenger door latch failed and actually flew open in the middle of intersection while door was locked! Entered intersection from a full stop. Shut door repeatedly when we entered the truck. Seemed to have trouble shutting completely. Needed a couple tries get closed. Thankfully my kids had their seatbelts on! I have never heard of this kind of thing happening with today’s safety standards.”

NHTSA complaint #11473167, filed 2022-07

“While driving this past weekend 24-26 January 2025, my vehicle's tailgate dropped on its own while driving. The first two instances I discovered the tailgate down when I arrived at my destination. While I only had a few light items in my truck bed, this could have been catastrophic as I was traveling at highway speeds and do typically carry heavier loads. On the third instance, I was sitting in my idling vehicle and felt and observed when the tailgate opened on its own. I have an appointment scheduled with my local Ford dealership for Friday 31 January 2025. …”

“The moonroof leaks causing water to spill into the cabin thru the headliner flowing onto the dash and coming into contact with electrical equipment dome lights infotainment system and could cause a potential issue with water and electrical system!!!”
