“Ever since the day I purchased my 2011 Ford F-150 it has had an extremely irritating as well as distracting vibration at highway speeds. Vibration is most noticeable in both driver and passenger seats as well as the floor. Have put 30k miles on it, tried new tires, numerous tire rotation/balances, even replaced rotors. No matter what I do the trucks shakes/vibrates at highway speeds. Please help!!”
NHTSA complaint #10716267, filed 2015-05, 30,000 miles“Poor gas mileage. Window sticker says 23 mpg highway, best I ever got is 16 mpg, with cruise set at 65 MPH on flat level highway. Had at dealer, 4 times, they updated computer, changed turbo intercooler and they still cant improve my fuel economy. Around town I get 12 mpg. Bad turbo lag when pulling out low power, dealer said its how turbos work. Doors rattle, speakers crackle, rear end springs make a creaking sound. 4 wheel drive makes a loud growling, sounds like gears are not meshed right. I would not recommend a new F-150 to any one. Nothing but trips to the dealer and let downs.”
NHTSA complaint #10521895, filed 2013-06, 1,000 miles“While driving the front drivers side was making loud thud noise when turning or when you hit a small bump when turning. Under further inspection, the drivers side strut spring is broken.”
NHTSA complaint #11302402, filed 2020-01, 90,000 miles“I have a 2011 Ford F-150 4x4 ecoboost and have had one steering rack replaced already. It was replaced due to popping in the steering as well as bump steer and wandering. The initial replacement was 6-1-12 and as of this post (1-26-13) and roughly 12k more miles, it is starting to have the same concerns that required the initial replacement. In addition, the front suspension in general seems loose and the left side squeaks over bumps and seems weaker in the spring than the passenger side.”
NHTSA complaint #10494830, filed 2013-01, 15,166 miles“Two issues here. First issue. When making turns there is a clunk sound from the front of the vehicle after the turn as the steering wheel is returned to forward position. Happens intermittent. Cannot feel the clunk in the wheel, but the sound is like metal on metal. Second issue: rear suspension clunks and squeaks a lot. (like it is 20+ years old.) standing on the bumper or pushing sideways on the fender makes the rear-end squeak. I took it to Ford for repair and they stated there was a technote that told them to 'lube' the rear leaf springs. …”
