Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Inadequate contacts on fuse relay for fuel pump, causing overheating without burning out the fues(#27 in the fuse box). This caused the relay and fuse to start melting and resulted in immediate shut down of the fuel pump, and complete power loss. I was lucky it happened right after I pulled into my driveway. No warning at all. Extremely dangerous if it had happened on the freeway.”

NHTSA complaint #11352506, filed 2020-09, 83,000 miles

“Vehicle runs rough and throws a check engine light. When the engine is warm it runs smoother. After trouble shooting possible problems, it was determined to probably be a sticky valve. It is my understanding, there was a recall on this particular issue. I want to know if this truck was serviced and the issue corrected while owned by the original owner. If yes, it is broken again.”

NHTSA complaint #11192018, filed 2019-03, 95,000 miles

“When driving the truck (what seemed like) shifted hard then the wrench sign came up on the screen and throttle would not work. I was doing 50 MPH at the time and had to hit the hazards and pull over. Once I turned off the engine and turned it back on it seemed ok, pulled the code p2112 throttle body. Looked online and many , many people have the same issue. Can't believe this isn't a recall seeing how dangerous this is.”

NHTSA complaint #10870256, filed 2016-05, 98,000 miles

“Traveling on 4 lane highway during period of train, accelerated to pass vehicles, my truck eco-boost motor acceleration stagnated and vehicle began to shutter, was unable to pass, decelerated and stagnation stopped. Incident occurred when ever I tried to accelerated during active rain during a 9 hour interstate trip.”

NHTSA complaint #10523278, filed 2013-07, 23,000 miles

“Spring of 2012 acceleration failed when overtaking a slower vehicle. My speed was about 60 MPH. This happened on more than one occasion. 06/10/13. Vehicle engine began missing and vibrating when accelerating at any speed. I was driving about 45 MPH. Have sent the pickup to the dealer for inspection/repair.”
