“Bought a brand new, 2016 f150 lariat v8 4x4. At circa 2500 miles the vehicle started to make an unusual noise when driving at 45 to 60-MPH. Took the vehicle for repair to the dealership. Dealership heard the noise also, but were not able to locate/fix it. They advised me to continue driving the car to see if the noise increased. At circa 3750 miles, I took the vehicle to the dealership for a second time since the noise was still present and evident. …”

NHTSA complaint #10938026, filed 2016-12, 2,500 miles

“My truck started making a whistle and ticking sound different than the standard turbo whistle. I've also noticed a burning smell recently when accelerating. I took the vehicle in to the dealership, and they pointed out that the exhaust manifold is warped. Looking online, this is a standard issue with Ford's Ecoboost engine -- however this is not covered by the extended warranty. This could cause the vehicle to fail emissions testing”
