“The first item to malfunction was the transmission gear indicator on the dash, that started about a year after I bought the truck and would intermittently work. I had multiple oil changes in the truck at various dealers and brought it up but nothing ever came up from it since it was intermittent. Then in 2023 a warning popped up that the blind spot indicators were malfunctioning. I was planning to bring it in to be looked at but did not have time to with work and family. …”
NHTSA complaint #11582653, filed 2024-04“I've been dealing with a vibration/shaking in my factory driver side mirror at high speeds and on bumpy roads since I got my truck in May 2019 (over three years). No issue on the passenger side. I've dealt with it off and on with the dealer as time and life have allowed. Currently I'm on my fourth mirror and have a case manager from Ford corporate. I have attached some of my correspondence with them for your reference. My problem is that the driver side shaking is very bad. …”
NHTSA complaint #11483522, filed 2022-09“Transmission flutters a little before changing from 1st to 2nd gear. In 4th and 5th gear the transmission pauses a few seconds before going into the next gear. From 8th gear to the ninth gear, the transmission jerks really hard. The transmission only has 72000 miles on it. And also the dash board material is coming up.The lane assist jerks really hard sometimes, forcing you in another lane. No warnings or faults during each incidents.”
NHTSA complaint #11675032, filed 2025-07“The APIM becomes inoperative at random times for ~8 hours. When this happens the entire dashboard goes black and you can’t tell your speed, turn signals, rpm, engine temp, oil pressure, etc. You are driving with no indicators and have no idea what your speed is or any other critical indication. APIM stands for Accessory Protocol Interface Module, also known as the Ford SYNC computer. It's a key component of the SYNC system in Ford vehicles. Ford has equipped vehicles with the APIM since its inception, but there have been complaints and recalls related to it.”
