“I was driving in my neighborhood when the right passenger mirror exploded with a loud boom. The outside portions of the mirror were lying on the side of the road intact. The interior plastic was blown to several pieces. Had someone or something been on the right side of my car, they would certainly have been injured. This is not normal wear-and-tear on a car; this is a defect. It is apparently connected with the defrosting system. Ford assumes no responsibility.”

NHTSA complaint #10676610, filed 2015-01, 53,000 miles

“While driving with my family (3 yr old , 6 month old and my husband) throttle sudden stopped functioning. We were driving on the freeway when this happened the first time and was very scary and dangerous to suddenly lose speed. When we pulled over and restarted the car the throttle response seemed back to normal. We have had this happen multiple times a day ( as this is my families only car) I am now scared to drive with my girls in the car.”

NHTSA complaint #10543375, filed 2013-09, 6,700 miles

“I have a 2010 Ford Fusion sel and right after I first got it I had a crack in windshield and thought a rock must have hit it. I got it repaired (after many problems with the repairs) and not long after I got a star burst. Will have to have it fixed now too! I have had many cars throughout the years and have never had to replace the windshield, this one now twice and only 10,000 miles on it????”

NHTSA complaint #10370611, filed 2010-12, 4,000 miles

“Good day, I bought my car used back in 2011. I have never had any issues in the 3 years regarding the tinted windows. I have not had any work done on them while I owned the vehicle either. Last week the service station rejected an inspection sticker due to this issue. My windows are at a 27 and I was told that should be at a 35. I have been looking at cars today who's tinted windows do not look any different than mine at all. Why are some people allowed to get away with some things if its the law... And others do not? Please advise. Unfair treatment! …”

NHTSA complaint #10598886, filed 2014-06, 93,456 miles

“I have a Ford Fusion with about 30000 miles. I first noticed a hard shift at 10k miles and thought maybe its just a simple fix. I took it in and they reprogrammed the transmission and the service supervisor said that this transmission adapts to the owners driving habits. Well 3k miles later its worse so I take it back and the tech said all the clutches were replaced and two other things were done! I have taken it back four more times and have not had it fixed. It appears that Ford admitted there was a problem with a transmission code that fixes the problem. …”
