“After doing research I have found that I am not the only one experiencing this issue, but I have a 2016 ford fusion 1.5 ecoboost engine and I am having problems with my cylinder leaking. I have to constantly refill coolant and the only option to fix this issue is to replace the motor”

NHTSA complaint #11565877, filed 2024-01, 148,682 miles

“I have coolant leaking into engine cylinders. Bought the car a year ago from carvana before purchase had a full inspection done. A year later I had problem with the engine spitting and misfiring. Local mechanic changed the spark plugs and leads. But noticed bad discoloration on the spark plugs. Ive been continuing to have to add coolant and the car is running ever worse.”

NHTSA complaint #11339002, filed 2020-07, 104,500 miles

“Started out as cylinder 3 misfire, normal highway driving, I replaced plugs and coil packs, did not help. Then engine over heated, checked coolant which was low. Shortly after realized coolant has been leaking to nowhere and white smoke started coming out of the tail pipe. After some research I find out this a problem Ford knows about, so im hoping they are held responsible.”

NHTSA complaint #11325602, filed 2020-05, 66,800 miles

“Car had to be towed to dealer due to engine failure. The car was diagnosed with coolant leaks into two cylinders, which could have caused a fire. The engine failure happened as I was driving the vehicle, putting my safety and the safety of others at risk. The problem has been confirmed by a Ford dealer. Error codes for misfire appeared right before. Vehicle was inspected shortly before malfunction and was told everything was great with the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11631425, filed 2024-12, 115,538 miles

“Throttle body/fuel rail pressure sensor failure. I believe that there was a recall on this part for the earlier Fusion models, but not the 2016 models, and that recall should be updated. While either driving under 40mph or sitting idle, the car's engine would shut off while the electrics would remain on. This can cause other vehicles to crash into me and cause serious injury or worse.”
