“The car never gave any indication of a problem. No check engine light, smoking, not even oil usage for that matter. I checked the oil every time I got gas because I bought it 3 weeks prior. Then was driving to interstate to work when I hear jt start clicking immediately got a oil light then dies and was stuck on interstate cars zoomomg by at 80 if I were in the center lane I would be dead.”
NHTSA complaint #11400427, filed 2021-03, 112,000 miles“Idler pulley bolt has broken twice in the 2 years I've had this vehicle. Each of the bolts snapped and got stuck in the engine block. When the bolt breaks it results in a loss of power steering, the engine starts to overheat, and other issues occur due to the serpentine belt coming off track. Each time this has happened to me on a very busy highway and almost caused a collision.”
NHTSA complaint #11109797, filed 2018-07, 156,000 miles“Had to replace an ignition coil for a misfire obd code. After replacing coil problem still existed, so I researched online and found a great number of other Fusion owners who have had this same problem. Now I am supposed to replace all the ignition coils and the PCM. With the number of affected vehicles being staggering I feel that there needs to be a recall for this issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10672885, filed 2015-01, 145,000 miles“My 2007 Fusion's computer went bad and burnt up coils. Grand total to fix it was $2200. Even though there is a service bulletin they wouldn't do anything. It is only if the car is under warranty. We bought this car as a certified used car and that meant nothing too.”
NHTSA complaint #10563856, filed 2014-02, 80,000 miles“I was driving at 25mph and the car started revving on its own. I had to slam on the brakes. This happened twice so far. City street. Straight. Both times.”
