“As I was driving down the road (in motion / city street) at 30 miles per hour in my brand new (4 week old / 2200 miles) all electric Ford mach e, the display flashed multiple warning lights that came too quickly to decipher, and then the car went dead. I was able to pull off the road and come to a stop. At this point the car was completely dead. Even the hazard lights wouldn't work which made the situation dangerous since the cars behind me could not tell that there was a problem.”
NHTSA complaint #11415152, filed 2021-05, 2,200 miles“While legally passing a car on a 2-lane highway, at over 50+ mph, the car lost motive power and began to shut down leaving me with no power facing on coming traffic. I had no choice but to force other cars to slow down behind me, causing another hazard, in order to get to the side of the road. I could have been killed in an oncoming car collision.”
NHTSA complaint #11470258, filed 2022-06“My 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E suffered a total loss of motive power on the road, throwing code P0D10:00:AF for a stuck-open high-voltage contactor. This is the exact failure mode of Safety Recall 23S56. Ford is refusing to cover the repair because my VIN was omitted from the database and the vehicle is at 108,017 miles, treating a hazardous powertrain defect as an out-of-warranty consumer expense. I have an active case number with Ford.”
NHTSA complaint #11757768, filed 2026-08“After reversing, I changed the gear to drive and then the car suddenly accelerated and continued doing so. I was about to crash into another car until I pressed the brake when the car came to a stop. This is the second or third time this has happened with the most recent instance being most concerning as the speed was increasing with time. I did not have my foot on the accelerator during this time nor was the car in cruise control.”
NHTSA complaint #11587751, filed 2024-05“Shortly after entering the freeway on August 18, 2023, my vehicle experienced a powertrain malfunction and displayed a Service Vehicle Soon warning light along with a vehicle with an exclamation point light and a wrench light. Motive power was reduced. I received a Diagnostic Test Code of P0ADA, indicating that there was a hybrid powertrain fault. The dealer has confirmed the code and is ordering a replacement part.”
