“Takata recall. On 5/1/2018 around 5:30pm I was driving approximately 25 MPH on busy city street not making any turns. No one else was in the vehicle other than me, the driver. I ran over a small bump and the passenger-side curtain and seat airbags deployed. There was no contact/collision against the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11091333, filed 2018-05, 80,000 miles

“I was in a parking garage and pulling into a parking spot. I was within 2 feet of the concrete wall and foot over break when my car accelerated with enough force to deploy the airbag and push the frame into the radiator. It happened so fast, I tried to brake but it was over within seconds. I could not have been going more than 2mph or less as I did not even have foot on gas.”

NHTSA complaint #10824466, filed 2016-02, 114,000 miles

“Takata recall of air bags. How can I know if my car is in danger of killing me or my precious granddaughters if my car is in an accident and the air bags deploy? Please advise on any new developments. I have had the airbags replaced on a recall already, but have heard that there is a problem with the replacements.”

NHTSA complaint #10884770, filed 2016-07, 140,000 miles

“My vehicle is part of the takata airbag recall. I heard on the news this morning that it may take 2-5 years to complete this recall. In the meantime would it be safer to disconnect the airbag until it can be replaced? It seems to me that this would be the most logical solution since, even in a minor fender bender the airbag could possibly deploy and cause serious injury.”

NHTSA complaint #10720950, filed 2015-05, 165,000 miles

“Takata recall. Our son was involved in an accident with an 18-wheeler on an interstate highway as a front-seat passenger in our 2004 Accord last week and his airbag did not deploy but the driver-side bag did deploy and caused harm to the driver who wound up having his lip sewn back together.”
