“My air compressor started making a terrible screeching noise. The mechanic stated that the air compressor in jeeps do not last after a couple of years. How has this not been rectified? Also, my traction and ABS lights come on and cause me to be unable to stop when I press the brakes. This is not from normal wear and tear of driving a car.”

NHTSA complaint #10615859, filed 2014-07, 48,602 miles

“Sudden engine acceleration incident. My wife and I were leaving a parking lot. After backing out of my parking space I drove for about 1 minute to a stop sign. I put the manual transmission in neutral and waited for a car to exit the intersection and for some pedestrians to cross. Suddenly, without touching the accelerator, the engine began to race. I looked at the tachometer. The engine that normally idles at about 600 RPM was running at 2500 RPM. I sat at the stop sign for a few moments and decided the throttle must have stuck. …”

NHTSA complaint #10432479, filed 2011-10, 35,260 miles

“I was parking my Jeep Liberty at the Jeep dealer. I had an appointment to have the engine checked because of a malfunction light that would not go out after starting the car. I had pulled into a parking space and then backed up to straighten the vehicle out in the space. When I started to pull into the parking space again the vehicle surged forward striking the dealership building damaging the concrete block structure, damage to the front bumper lights, and front fenders. The driver side airbag deployed. This is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. …”

NHTSA complaint #10294055, filed 2009-11, 19,000 miles

“When driving the Jeep up hill the Jeep will drop its speed tremendously from 65 or 70 to 40 or even 30 MPH. This occurs every time I drive it up a hill. In heavy highway it is dangerous. The dealership said that's how they all operate and after checking the vehicle nothing is wrong with it. I was also told by the dealership to just push the accelerator down to the floor and this may help. This process is also very dangerous because when you get past the hill the car is then moving at a high speed which is also dangerous. Since this is something that the dealership states cannot be corrected. …”
