Example complaints
Back-over prevention (rear camera): “Recall from 2025 every time I call they telling me the part is not available The rear view camera thermal fatigue cracks Increasing the risk of a crash”
NHTSA complaint #11730857, filed 2026-04Transmission and drivetrain: “The transaxle downshifts whenever the accelerator pedal is released and the vehicle gains speed. This happens anytime, not when the driver wants to slow down. In the snow this has caused me to loose traction (unwanted engine breaking). There is no way to turn this off. I've spoken with other ProMaster owners and they all report the same issue. The transaxle should only offer engine breaking if the driver is depressing the brake pedal. Not whenever the vehicle accelerates. I believe this feature should only be active in tow/haul mode, and not be active in Drive mode. …”
NHTSA complaint #11529507, filed 2023-06Other or unknown: “While driving using the bluetooth hands free option for phone calls and navigation the vehicle will intermittently disconnect forcing you to press a series of options to remake the connection which takes your eyes off the road and causes a dangerous condition. The dealer service center states that is the way the system operates and they cannot fix it.”
NHTSA complaint #11377214, filed 2020-11, 5,200 milesElectrical system: “The rear backup camera has been intermittently failing for over one year on this 2020 RAM ProMaster 2500. The failure has now become more frequent and extended. When the fault occurs, the infotainment screen displays a permanent Camera System Unavailable message that blocks access to all other functions including radio, phone, and navigation. The failure occurs in all gear positions and persists after engine restart. The only temporary resolution has been extended power-off periods. …”
