“About a week after I bought my 2004 Cadillac SRX, it started jerking and making a loud clicking or popping sound, later found out that a few sprockets inside the transfer case had broke off and the chain? Was slipping. This was the rear, the carlots mechanic fixed it, then the battery and alternator had to be replaced and the throttle body intake had to be opened and cleaned because it wasnt opening like it is designed to do, and so the exhaust was getting trapped in the exhaust manifold. …”

NHTSA complaint #11359892, filed 2020-09, 72,500 miles

“Frame failure. Rear sub frame was not welded on properly resulting in the car losing all directional control and going off the road. Could have been bad if speed was not so low. Cadillac has not been able to fix car due to not having part for last 7 months. It is a recall on the 05 but not the 04. Gm refuses to do anything other than tell me they will let me know when they have news. They have even requested to store the vehicle at my residence rather than the dealership as it has been there so long. I am so tired of this 7 month headache. …”

NHTSA complaint #10377025, filed 2011-01, 99,000 miles

“I own a 2004 Cadillac SRX with only 75,000 miles on it and the steering gear (rack-in-pinion) has to be replaced now for the 2nd time. The first time it had to be replaced was after the car just went out of warranty with only 57,000 miles on it and Cadillac would not repair it under warranty, only 7,000 miles out of warranty?? How often do you have to replace the steering gear on a bwm, volvo, lexus, infinity or even yet a yugo at only 57000 miles? The car has been perfectly maintained, serviced and kept in excellent condition. …”

NHTSA complaint #10503478, filed 2013-03, 57,404 miles

“My rear subframe came un-welded. Car lost ability to control direction due to rear wheel pointing in different directions. There is a recall for this exact problem on the 2005 model but not yet for the 2004 model.”

NHTSA complaint #10355010, filed 2010-09, 108,000 miles

“While test driving a new cadilac SRX equipped with automatic all wheel drive, v-8 engine and 20 tires (oversided the reg 18 standard tires and wheels) vehicle steering froze making left hand turn going approx 10-12 MPH....right front tire and wheel . Failed...causing skid into curb....preliminary inspection showed failure of all wheel drive or right wheel lugs/tire failure causing loss of tire/wheel.”
