“While driving at speed door locks will actuate back and forth with all dash lights flashing. Eventually car loses all power, engine dies, and have to pulp to side of interstate without power brakes or propulsion. I was personally almost rear ended by a semi at approx 60 MPH. Furthermore, it is know that all door panels in this vehicle retain moisture. This has killed all speakers and I guess it could be a potential cause of the afore mentioned problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10837902, filed 2016-02, 95,000 miles“While driving out of my driveway, I suddenly lost both power steering and power brakes. I was able to get back into my driveway, but with considerable effort. I called my mechanic and was advised that the power steering pump had failed, causing the power brakes to fail, also. The power steering pump shaft broke. I use the truck mostly to tow a horse trailer. I shudder to think what may have happened had the failure occurred on my way to a camp site on a curving two lane road. …”
NHTSA complaint #10558458, filed 2014-01, 22,683 miles“I went to stop at a red light and the brakes wouldn't work. I had to pump them bout three times till it started to work.has happen bout four times now and no brake light or anything will come on.”
NHTSA complaint #10593301, filed 2014-05, 73,560 miles“Upon braking hard to avoid hitting vehicles braking abruptly in front of me, all four wheels of my vehicle locked up and just slid on dry pavement. Anti-lock brakes didn't work as designed. There was no pedal pulsation or ratcheting noise as usual with anti-lock brakes working properly. Should have been able to stop safely if they were working properly. Dealer said if warning light wasn't on then they were operating properly.”
NHTSA complaint #10214726, filed 2008-01, 210 miles“I have had two problems with this truck - one the driver door locks clicker stopped working and I had to have the chevy dealer replace the automatic door locking part - now the brakes are a problem - I have 17,000 miles on this truck and the front rotors had groves in them and had to be turned - the pads have been replaced with heavy duty pads - my regular tire and brake shop in town said they would never have put the heavy duty pads on this truck. …”
