“Cracks on the dashboard suddenly appear at the passenger air bag side and above the radio controls. I'm the original owner and always take care of my truck, this is just very poor quality and possible a safety issue since cracks are next to the air bag! Gm must replace this at no cost for the customers!”
NHTSA complaint #10985618, filed 2017-05, 63,500 miles“Dash starting cracking around passenger air bag three years ago and is now cracking in two more places above the radio. Gm refuses to make any effort to help with the outrageous cost of repairing this defect. I have great concerns about shards of plastic flying in cab from the recalled tokata air bags that are in this vehicle that I am still waiting on GM to come up with a replacement for.”
NHTSA complaint #10917455, filed 2016-10, 70,000 miles“The dash on my 2008 silverado is cracked. The crack is located at the airbag on the passenger side. The crack is located at the top left side of the airbag opening. I am afraid that if the airbag is deployed the cracked dash will become shrapnel and kill, or seriously injure people in the cab of the truck.”
NHTSA complaint #10825457, filed 2016-02, 84,000 miles“My dash starting cracking at 30k miles. I assume it was just my luck. I looked up replacement parts to fix my dash, and I stumbled upon thousands of GM vehicles with the same issue... Gm charged us good money for our vehicles. I bought for being a safe vehicle. I'm not sure if my airbag will deploy for my passenger and where will all the shredded dash plastic will have to be picked out of me and my passengers bodies...”
NHTSA complaint #10819043, filed 2016-01, 30,000 miles“My dash has three cracks completely across the middle, and a crack on each side directly in front of driver side and also directly in front of passenger side right in corner around airbag compartment. Which my concern is a potential safety hazard! My vehicle was parked in parking lot, in shaded area. I went into store, returned aprx. 30 minutes and saw cracks. They were not there when I exited the vehicle to go in store.”
