“It would seem, that a 2008 Chrysler town & country touring with only 48,000 miles on it would not need a new transmission. It is driven by a senior who does not abuse its' use. Car developed a whirring noise and after 4 different auto mechanic shops' (including the dealer where it was purchased) opinions, they all told me a new transmission was needed. I am now $3, 700 + poorer!”

NHTSA complaint #10649001, filed 2014-10, 48,470 miles

“When driving on a flat surface between 35 and 45 MPH there is a shuddering/stuttering that happens. It feels like the van does not know whether to speed up or slow down. Sometimes when this happens the vehicle will completely shutoiff/stall causing steering and braking to be reduced. I have to quickly put vehicle in neutral and then restart. If I keep rpms high by staying in a lower gear there is no stuttering/shuddering”

NHTSA complaint #10854404, filed 2016-04, 110,000 miles

“Slowing down when approaching toll booth at night in main lane when van dies and will not start. Everything went dead (including hazard lights). Lucky we didn't get hit! Toll road authority truck pushed me to shoulder. After an about an hour, the van started.”

NHTSA complaint #10759887, filed 2015-08, 84,000 miles

“Faulty transmission. Constantly hard shifts everywhere. Feels like the transmission is going to fall out of the vehicle every time you shift from reverse to drive ,or drive to park, or park to reverse. This is the second transmission on this vehicle.. I had the powertrain checked and the vehicle came out with no problems. Im afraid that I will be in an accident the vehicle shakes and stops abruptly while driving.”

NHTSA complaint #10544046, filed 2013-09, 8,552 miles

“Yes I having and issue with my wife's 2008 Chrysler Town And Country minivan, about a week ago the ignition module where the key fob sits while driving, has been shifting to the off position on its own while the vehicle is in motion, thus taking power away from the steering and braking system. …”
