Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When steering wheel is not all the way up the turn signals, hazard lights, and the brake lights do not work. I have taken it to the dealership and they state that there is a clip in the steering column that is broke. This all happened 2 months after I bought the truck and they will not fix it due to there being no warranty. At the same time the keyless entry stopped working as well as the automatic door locks. They stated that this was because the motor in both doors had went out. Seems odd to me that they would both go at the same time.”

NHTSA complaint #10141084, filed 2005-10, 6,500 miles

“Was traveling when I notice that the truck locks were not working. I have this automobile due to the fact that once you start and take off the lock on there own. I have a few friends with the same truck and we all are having the same problem. Talked to the dealer and they stated that it was nothing wrong, but I am still having problems with the keyless entry not working to unlock or lock the doors. It's like the motors on both doors is bad at the same time.”

NHTSA complaint #10062491, filed 2004-03

“The contact stated the door locks failed to operate normally using the key fob. The locks must be manually opened or closed. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who determined the actuator needed to be replaced. The contact made several attempts to purchase a used actuator from local junk yards without success.”

NHTSA complaint #10154734, filed 2006-04, 147,379 miles

“While exiting the left back door of vehicle, consumer's pant leg caught on the bottom door latch located just below the back floorboard, consumer fell to floor with pant leg still caught on hoop of floorboard, consumer was wearing properly fitted clothes and sustained major injuries to the leg where a cast has been worn for 12 weeks, consumer may not have a 100% recovery.”

NHTSA complaint #559802, filed 2001-02

“While driving on the highway travelling 65mph, child was able to reach over and unlock the passenger's door. Contacted dealer, and he was not able to fix the problem. Owner was told that if he wanted the work done, he would have to get the vehicle modified by a local repair shop.”
