“Tailgate opens on own even while driving. No warning that it has or is open. At highway speed the tailgate has opened allowing bed contents to spill out!”

NHTSA complaint #11331539, filed 2020-06, 6,000 miles

“My Tailgate randomly opens while driving down the road. Several times, tools have slid out the back of the truck bed. This is a hazard to the trailing vehicles and costs me money in losses. Ford has a recall, but people are still experiencing the same issue. Ford will do nothing to guarantee the tailgate is fixed.”

NHTSA complaint #11506066, filed 2023-02

“On 1/23/22, my passenger front door latch became frozen and will not open. I understand that this problem has been reported on similar vehicles, but the fix if installed does not solve the problem. The current outside temperature is 4 degrees Fahrenheit. All the remaining doors are functioning as they should, but my concern is that it will repeat or worse, not close/latch properly.”

NHTSA complaint #11448504, filed 2022-01

“On my 2020 Ford F150, my wife was locked in the car because we could not get the passengers door to unlock. She just had surgery on her hand, and was not able to use her hand to open the door, and I could NOT get the door to unlock! I was trying all the unlock button, but it would not unlock. The only way I could get the door open was to put down the window, and reach in and unlock the door! What if a person needed to get the open open immedially!! This is not a good situation and is a majot safty matter that needs to be fixed by FORD! …”

NHTSA complaint #11618289, filed 2024-10

“The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked on several occasions, the front passenger’s side door failed to open as intended. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the door latch actuator had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,560.”
