“I was driving on february 12th 2019 and had my defrosters when all of a sudden I heard a loud pop and looked in the rearview mirror to see my back window shattered right over my 2 year old daughter. This is the second time that this has happened in the past 3 years. I stopped and got out and touched the window and burnt my hand with how hot it was.”

NHTSA complaint #11180214, filed 2019-02, 75,000 miles

“Got in my car at 9:30 pm. I had auto started my car. I entered the vehicle, inserted my key and then the driver side of my rear window shattered with a loud explosive pop that startled me. I was stationary at the time, thank goodness, or I might have driven off the road. After some research, I noted that there were others who had the same issue. That is why I am reporting this to you.”

NHTSA complaint #11397681, filed 2021-02, 60,000 miles

“I used the remote starter in the morning to warm up my truck. As I entered the driver side door and sat down I heard a loud pop almost like a small gun fired. Shortly after I could hear the crunching of the rest of my back window shattering. I could also smell smoke inside the vehicle. After checking on line it seems this is a common issue with the rear de-froster.”

NHTSA complaint #11184612, filed 2019-03, 54,000 miles

“We have had the back door lock freeze and cannot unlock back doors. We are replacing passenger back door lock for second time and have replaced driver side back door lock once. This is very dangerous as doors cannot be opened from inside and if in accident it could cause a death. There needs to be an investigation into this matter. Three times replacing locks is too much!”

NHTSA complaint #11192864, filed 2019-04, 113,000 miles

“The windshield washer nozzle freezes shut. Fluid in the reeavor is ok and the lines going from the resevor to the nozzle is soft and not frozen. The fluid is protected to -35 and the temp was only -10. My friend has a 2014 f150 and it does the same. It's dangerous cause we can't clean the windshield. It happens if the veh is moving or not.”
