“The 3 piece rear window exploded with no provocation. My wife and I entered the truck closed the doors and a few seconds later heard a loud pop! On further investigation one of the panes in the three piece window had completely shattered. The rear defrost had not been turned on. The ambient temperature was about 32 f.”

NHTSA complaint #11376161, filed 2020-11, 130,000 miles

“The back window spontaneously shattered without any impact. I live in western oregon where temperatures are not extreme. This happened overnight and I noticed it driving to work the next morning. I have a camper shell on my pick up, so there was no impact from the outside. I have been the only one in the pick up and nobody was in the cab of my pick up to cause the damage from the inside.”

NHTSA complaint #11317610, filed 2020-03, 52,000 miles

“As reported by hundreds of other users, a faulty rear defroster has caused the rear windshield to spontaneously shattered and got pieces in the rear seat. Luckily I was parked at my work parking lot, and there was no child in the backseat. There needs to be a recall or a fix for this. As well as reimbursement for my window.”

NHTSA complaint #11195019, filed 2019-04, 50,000 miles

“The back glass has shattered 2 times and a burning smell is appearing when I start my truck. I have 2 small kids in carseats and im concerned ! Both times my glass shattered I was warming the truck in cold weather. And the back defrost still works which scares me a little. Someone is gonna be injured or killed eventually!”

NHTSA complaint #11190011, filed 2019-03, 70,000 miles

“I remote started my vehicle in the morning. It was 12 degrees out. Got in the car and drove it about 2 blocks on a slow neighborhood road in a straight line and heard a loud bang inside the cabin. The rear drivers side back panel window had fully shattered. I could not see out of the window and glass was on the inside of my back seat.”
