“Multiple times I have taken a turn in my 2013 f150 and the steering goes stiff for 5-10 seconds. It feels like I don't even have power steering or any control over the wheel. And it's terrifying each time it happens. I've almost ran off the road into the railing while going around a sharp turn on a mountain that could of caused me to run off the cliff due to the locked up steering.”

NHTSA complaint #11400255, filed 2021-03, 150,000 miles

“Going down the road, when all of a sudden the steering got stiff and seemed to lockup. The next time I started my truck, the advance track and hill assist warning lights came on, and the turn signal will not stay on unless it is held down. I have quite driving the truck until it is fixed. It is hard to maintain lane control.”

NHTSA complaint #11374066, filed 2020-11, 115,600 miles

“76000 miles. Power steering lost. Limped to the Ford garage and after 2 hours was told the power assist needed to be replaced - $1900.00!! Really? 2014 models had the same problem but had a recall. Why not the 2013's? First time ever after owning many vehicles that I've had an expense like this. Ford? No more!! I could have got into an accident or even killed.”

NHTSA complaint #11082467, filed 2018-04, 76,000 miles

“I was drving my truck and with no warning or anything my steering became very very hard and had to take extra force to turn it the biggest problem was it happened ther morning I was coming back from vacation a 30 hour drive to get back home and be able to take it to the dealer to get it fixed it was very dangerous.”

NHTSA complaint #11142521, filed 2018-10, 65,000 miles

“Power steering made a grinding noise when the steering wheel was turned fully to the left. A warning regarding the stabilitrack system appeared on the dash. Subsequently while I was driving on a street power steering assist stopped, resulting in very difficult steering. My mechanic scanned the computer and found that the steering angle sensor failed.”
