“After stopping the car in a left turn lane in the intersection, the car engine, dash board and infotainment system shut down. No warnings or other items appeared, the car died. After scrambling since it put traffic to a standstill, I shifter to park and returned on the car. Which worked and allowed me to continue. This happened again 1 week later while at a red light.”
NHTSA complaint #11758148, filed 2026-08“Not sure about what component could have triggered but I started seeing smoke and fire from the front hood. I managed to stop and exit the call to call emergency services. The fire aggravated that the whole car was burned. The dealer was notified as well as the Honda but yet to hear back. The claim is also filed with insurance company that they indicated to be getting custody of the vehicle to inspect.”
NHTSA complaint #11653902, filed 2025-04“Mid November 2023, at 9 am, between Livermore and Pleasanton, California, USA, while driving my wife's 7000 miles Honda Odyssey Sport 2023 sunroof glass imploded. An extremely loud bang noise followed by a rain of micro crystals over my head, driver, passenger and back places. My right ear was numbed and when I could manage to stop, I got pinched by the micro crystals everywhere, while my sunroof pieces of glass kept falling over me. …”
NHTSA complaint #11566166, filed 2024-01“I always do a full undercarriage inspection of new vehicles we purchase, even though I am in my 60's. When inspecting this new Odyssey there was unusual amounts of rusting throughout both front wheel hubs. This also was a problem on our 2014 Honda Cr-V we also purchased new. They require a coating on them for brake and steering systems safety. When this rust spreads to brake and steering mechanisms mounted to these hubs....big issues.”
NHTSA complaint #11507355, filed 2023-02“Seems like due to the auto idle, it makes the engine idle so low that it dies- my car died in middle of the road- the first time, I had it jumped, and mechanic said it was a fluke, second time, despite the testing not showing any issue, he said we can try to replace the battery, so we did, but 6 weeks later my car died, and it took 5 attempts to get it to restart with the external battery pack! each time there was NO issue with the electrical system- my A/C was running fine, the whole dashboard showed up fine. …”
