“I was driving and stopped at traffic light and notification popped up saying shift gear to park (p) and to desired gear . After performing that and when I went back to d all power went away and car started rolling backwards (there was a little slope). So I went to park again and tried it once more, power came for 3 seconds and went out again.”

NHTSA complaint #11403476, filed 2021-03, 67,894 miles

“The oil cooler is cracked. According to the dealer it could be a manufacturing defect. They told me there are over 24,000 oil coolers on backorder. Looking online on Jeep Cherokee forums many many people have had this problem. We noticed this problem due to the fact the engine temp kept fluctuating and the coolant was low.”

NHTSA complaint #11397340, filed 2021-02, 120,000 miles

“Again the check engine light came on. This is our 2nd engine and the dealer says it is this new engine that needs to be replaced. The Jeep will idle rough, shift on it's own, all the same transmission issues. And now the parking brake locked up and I had to have it towed home. I assume it is the transimission because it still will throw it in neutral while driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11352581, filed 2020-09, 99,950 miles

“Engen light is on, oil light is on. Oil sensor is not working.I am told the sensor is causing all of this and a $ 600.00 repaired required, but not garetied to solve my problem. ?? The lights came on after I got an oil change , when I was pulling out into traffic. Also the light indicator on shifter position light up all positions.”

NHTSA complaint #11349598, filed 2020-08, 27,000 miles

“While driving on 2 occasions this week my car stalled out of the blue and I lost power. Additionally my car on several occasions has shifted into neutral on it owns while driving. After doing research on the problems I found that some 2014 Jeep cherokees were recalled for this exact issue but my car was not in the recall.”
