NHTSA complaint #10442103, filed 2012-01

“On an extremely cold morning (-22deg f) I started my 2000 Toyota Tundra access cab v8 and went to turn on heat. The temperature nob would not turn easily, but did turn, and made a snapping sound. The heat never came, though the fan did work and blew cold air. I have been working overseas and not requiring the use of the vehicle since this incident, and just found the cause of the error. The cables for the heat selector seized and the dash mechanism broke. …”

NHTSA complaint #10185397, filed 2007-03

“Problems with the brake indicator lamp on the dash turning on when apply brakes. The indicator light becomes active when the weather reaches a temperature of 32 degree or lower. I reported this problem to a Toyota dealer when the vehicle was under warranty. Toyota found no problem at the time of service.”

NHTSA complaint #10049132, filed 2003-12

“The vehicles brake rotors and drums were warped and caused extended stopping distance when braking. There was a vibration when braking, the tire seemed to be worn on the inside, the A/C made a noise when turned on high, and the front seat belt did not retract at times.”
