Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Several of automatic sensors were not working (tire pressure) and the horn. The dealer stated I had road damage and wires were torn loose. I'm a 76 year old woman and I do not take this car off road or have any recollection of such an incident. I maintain the underside of the vehicle is improperly protected. They charged me $2300 to fix it.”

NHTSA complaint #11743165, filed 2026-06

“Vehicle was driving approximately 65 miles per hour on interstate. Upon crossing a bridge the sunroof exploded sending glass flying inside the vehicle. The vehicle was equipped with a dash camera which also captured audio. No external object struck the vehicle. Two children and an adult in the vehicle were struck with flying glass. The video has been saved and can be provided in addition to the pictures.”

NHTSA complaint #11706650, filed 2025-12

“Hood striker fasteners failed allowing hood to separate from striker at highway speed resulting in hood flying open, striking and damaging windshield and blocking view of driver. Photos from incident scene and subsequent dealer inspection agree on fastener failure as the striker was found fully latched into the retainers. Fortunately, driver was in an outer lane and able to navigate to shoulder and stop vehicle without further damage.”

“The contact owns a 2024 Ford Expedition. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V368000 (Structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.”
