Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The 360 camara does not always come on for several minutes after starting up. This prevents me from using the bachup canera and therefore I ciuld run over something or somebody when backing out of my garage or out if a parking spot. I have taken the truck in to to different dealers and all they say is they can't duplicate the problem. I even show them a viseo of it happening to me but say they have to see it to fix it. I see all of the ford SUV's are on recall, so wht aren't the F150's? This is a very dangerous situation that needs to be corrected asap. …”

NHTSA complaint #11594517, filed 2024-06

“The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while reversing, the back-over prevention camera malfunctioned, and a blank screen was displayed, causing a visibility hazard for the driver. Additionally, the Brake Fault message was displayed while at a stop light. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 2,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11644989, filed 2025-02, 2,000 miles

“Camera image becomes distorted when put in reverse. It doesn’t happen all the time, but sometimes happens multiple times a day. I have pictures and videos of the distortion of the camera happening.”

NHTSA complaint #11677286, filed 2025-07

“The back up camera screen is constantly freezing up or the screen goes black. When this happens the driver has no control over any audio, navigation or other settings that are linked to the screen. The only way to get the screen to come back on or unlock the frozen back up screen is to turn the vehicle off and let it time out. This happens at least 3 or 4 times a week. When dealership was asked about it, was told they don’t have a fix for it and it’s a common problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11553235, filed 2023-11

“Loud buzzing noise interrupts driver focus. This happens intermittently, but has occurred while braking at busy intersections, while backing into urban parking spaces, while attempting to use the camera for safe maneuvering - or just at random times while driving. Navigation has been interrupted, preventing the ability to make safe decisions to arrive at a desired location. Voice-based services have been interrupted, prompting the need for physical interaction (which entices the driver away from hands-free operation and taking their eyes off the road). …”
