“The middle rear seat belt is locked in place to the point it is digging into my seat. I now can not use the seat belt and causes a safety concern for my children and or passengers if they are not wearing a seat belt. Also, the rear headrest removes but the poles that holds them in still stick out of the seat. The headrest must be removed to properly install my daughters booster seat. …”
NHTSA complaint #10758922, filed 2015-08, 148,000 miles“The passenger seat belt will not hook. Needed to push the release button to engage the seat belt. Vehicle was stationary in park. I have the malfunctioning seat belt for your examination. Just send me an address. The seat belt and pretensioner needed to be replaced. A $351.23 repair.”
NHTSA complaint #10904464, filed 2016-09, 165,000 miles“2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee - rear middle seat belt locked up! I put the rear seat down to move stuff, went to put seat back into regular up right position and the middle seat belt is locked and wont release. I have read that this is a common problem with no fix. In my opinion this is a safety item that the manufacture needs to look into via recall or fix!”
NHTSA complaint #10466922, filed 2012-07, 90,100 miles“The middle seat belt locks up and renders it useless. It locks so tight that it is impossible to loosen and becomes a safely risk if god forbid someone would be stuck in it during an accident. It has started to dig into my seat so bad that I have no choose but to cut it and remove and replace it. This is a manufacturer defect and should be a safety recall and placed on this asap.”
NHTSA complaint #10551728, filed 2013-11, 65,000 miles“The rear center seat belt is stuck in the lock position after laying the back seat down to haul cargo. I have read several forums regarding this problem and it seems to happen a lot. No solution yet save taking it to the dealer for them to fix and me to have to pay for. Not a good option in my book.”
