“Door handle on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo seems to be ready to break on driver door. I can see a sort of pin cracking through the door itself. This is a safety issue that needs to be fixed immediately. Notified Jeep dealer in concord, nc and I was told that I would have to buy a new door panel assembly to fix this as it is not under warranty.”

NHTSA complaint #10564800, filed 2014-02, 113,000 miles

“When opening the passenger side door I noticed it was cracking. I just purchased the car used and found that all 4 door have the same issue though the back doors are far worse. This needs to be repaired asap. And Jeep will not cover the cost for repair as it's not on their recall list. It can result in injury if there is an emergency and the passengers cannot open the doors”

NHTSA complaint #10748587, filed 2015-08, 113,000 miles

“We have purchased a used 2005 Jeep with 2 broken door handles. Searching the internet shows that this is a common problem with these jeeps. This is truly a safety hazard seeing as no one could escape this vehicle should there be an accident. Since this is a problem many seem to have, I feel Jeep needs to step up and repair this very serious issue!”

NHTSA complaint #10520071, filed 2013-06, 108,000 miles

“When opening up the right rear passenger door, the door latch broke off in my daughters hand. No force able opening had been done, this was in a parked position stopped in a parking lot stall. I do not allow any passengers on this side for fear of not being able to get out in case of an emergency.”

NHTSA complaint #10852851, filed 2016-04, 107,259 miles

“3 out of the 4 interior door handles in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited have severely cracked and are even missing parts of the panel. During my research online I have found that I am no where near the only one having this issue with these models and it appears to be a manufacturer defect.”
