NHTSA complaint #10733792, filed 2015-07, 86,295 miles“I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and recently I had a failure of the seat belt, in that it locked back in the fully retracted position. Following is a description of the events, I came to a red light and put the brakes on and the seat belt tightened up against my chest, I then leaned back to relieve the tension and the belt stayed tight against my chest, so I unbuckled the seat belt and left it retract to relieve the tension and the seat belt would not extend after that, putting me in a position of not having a seat belt for protection. …”
NHTSA complaint #10222100, filed 2008-03, 72,510 miles“On december 12, 2010 at or around the hour of 9:30 p.m. Central time I was involved in a one vehicle roll over accident due to poor road conditions in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was the sole individual in the vehicle, and after the accident I found myself in the back seat of the vehicle. I was however buckled in the driver's seat at the start of the accident. I sustained a serious concussion and bruising to my left shoulder and hip from the seat belt, as well as other various injuries. The failure of the seat belt is my concern. The seat belt failed during the accident in some way.”
NHTSA complaint #10372137, filed 2010-12, 76,500 miles“April 21, 2006: I was proceeding on a green left turn arrow and was hit by a ford taurus running stop light. He veered around my front end, tearing off the entire front end and pushing my vehicle into the oncoming lanes. I did not see him coming. I heard the crash, then saw a bright white light. I had lost consciousness and was awakened by a man knocking on my window. The seat belt did not hold. Air bag did not deploy. I smashed into the steering wheel causing head and chest trauma, was rushed to the er, spending two days in the hospital with a bruised heart and head lacerations. …”
NHTSA complaint #10158143, filed 2006-05, 14,000 miles“Takata recall - had my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee in for the recall in january 2018. They fixed airbag recall and problem seatbelt light constantly being on even when driver is correctly seatbelted in- the light stays on. Now, it is august 27, 2018 and both air bag light and seat belt light are back on. Also, the fuel tank skid plate is completely rusted through. This leaves the gas tank fully exposed, leaving you susceptible to any number of possible scenarios where the fuel tank could ignite, especially if one was to be rear ended by another vehicle. …”
