“I got my 2000 Jeep Wrangler sahara from parents they bought it new from dealership. When it hit about 150,000 miles when in motion no mater how much gas is in it, it acts like you have run out . It cuts out, slows down, and sometimes will backfire then will go again. Sometimes if you turn off the key and start it again it stops doing it,other times it only helps for a mile then cuts out again.I now have 210,000 miles on it, and I never know when it will do it. …”

NHTSA complaint #10893777, filed 2016-08, 150,000 miles

“When adding fuel to the vehicle( fill up time), the auto shut off continually clicks itself off and spills fuel. This condition exists on an empty or partially filled tank. I have owned said vehicle since new. Problem didn't begin until adaptation of vapor recovery devices added to the gas station pumps. It now takes approximately 15 minutes of frustration to fill this veh. With the 16 gallons required to fill it. Also results in a spill every single time. I belong to an organization dedicated to this particular make and model of vehicle, and it happens very often.”

NHTSA complaint #10355183, filed 2010-09, 20,000 miles

“Severity depends on gas pump and station. Vehicle refuses to let fuel flow, and clicks off constantly throughout the process of filling the car with fuel. When fuel does flow, it spills out the side of the car when filling is complete rather than clicking off safely. Happens every time.”

NHTSA complaint #10621126, filed 2014-08, 70,000 miles

The contact stated that he had parked the vehicle for ten minutes in his driveway when he noticed smoke coming from under the hood. When he approached the vehicle and noticed that the vehicle was on fire. The contact stated that he extinguished the fire, but the fire department did come out and made a report. …”
