“Crack in gas tank - the check engine light illuminated yesterday when I started the vehicle. I took my vehicle to my mechanic. There is a crack in the top of the gas tank. My mechanic said that after research in trying to get a new gas tank, he found that this is an issue. Mopar has a significant backorder for these tanks. This is definitely a safety issue and I hope it will be looked into.”

NHTSA complaint #11112144, filed 2018-07, 100,000 miles

“As I pump gasoline at different gasoline stations; the gas pump doesn't shut off and fuel spit-back onto the floor, hand and clothe. The smell of gasoline will be throughout the cab and in my hands and clothe. This is a health issue, because inhaling the fumes. Also if I don't have access to soap and water I must stay with gasoline in my hands and clothe.”

NHTSA complaint #10692127, filed 2015-03, 42,116 miles

“Every time this vehicle is fueled up, the gas will come gushing out before the pump shuts off. I just bought this vehicle and was completely soaked with gas the first time I filled it up. I do not top it off and it is on 10% ethanol 89 octane gas. This is a serious issue. From what I read the NHTSA has looked into this and dropped it???? Someone is going to get hurt from this.”

NHTSA complaint #10704176, filed 2015-04, 42,000 miles

“Whenever I go to the gas station to fill up with gas, one of two things happens; either it doesn't automatically cutoff and gas spills out onto my fender/wheel, or it does the opposite....continues to click off over and over and over again and I am unable to fill my tank. I have tried getting gas at several different stations now, and it does it at all of them.”

NHTSA complaint #10667290, filed 2014-12, 42,000 miles

“Ever since I've purchased my used 2011 Wrangler it has spit fuel onto Jeep/ground while filling the tank. Sometimes as much as 1/2 gal fuel. There is a TSB for 2007/2008 wranglers to have tank replaced. There needs to be another one for newer jeeps. Several complaints for the 2011 are listed on your site for the same problem.”
