“I recently purchased a used 2012 (09/11 production date) Chrysler town 7 country touring, van, it had 063,200.0 miles when received. Purchased from a honest and reputable local used car dealer. (it was a new car trade in from a dealer 45 miles away) after driving the van for aprox. 300 miles the air bag light in the dash came on and would not reset or go out. The dealer tried to clear the code but could not. They determined that it was something related to the drivers seat. At their recommendation I took the van to the local Chrysler/jeep/ram dealer to be checked. …”
NHTSA complaint #10864374, filed 2016-05, 63,424 miles“While parked in our driveway, ignotion/accessory off, with the 3rd row seats stowed, and the second row door switch disabled, my wife and I were attaching and adjusting a child safety seat in the 2nd row right side. Our 2 year old grandaughter was playing in the back, the back door was open. I went in the house for a moment, upon returning I learned that our grandaughter had gotten pinned between a deploying left side third row seat and a small cooler we had in the back of the van. My wife heard her say help me and was able to pull her out of the way. …”
NHTSA complaint #10462607, filed 2012-06, 4,000 miles“Middle fold & store seat does not release to collapse into the floor behind driver. The release won't work. Prior to current problem seat didn't go into store position with out a fight. The 3rd row fold down seat, (double seat), retractable leg locks won't fold down in the floor position. They stick up in the air. The cable mechanize attached to a plastic piece that holds cable in place came apart while folding seat down for storage. The plastic part has a crack in it where cable broke through. The car was stationary in the driveway and we were cleaning the car.”
NHTSA complaint #11092035, filed 2018-05, 110,731 miles“1) the third row pier folding seats have twice been inadvertently activated by a child touching the button, and narrowly escaping being crushed by the folding seat. Also, the seat jammed in the half folded position and the dealership wanted $2600+ to fix it. The power folding seats are a death trap if someone cannot get out of the way when the button has been activated. 2) twice now, the electrical system has been flashing random codes- the tire pressure gauge when the tire pressure is fine, the ABS and traction light, and also weird mini rough idles at very low speeds in heavy traffic. …”
NHTSA complaint #11218225, filed 2019-06, 35,000 miles“The contact owns a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the front driver's side head restraint deployed. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred immediately after the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed of an unknown recall repair with a similar failure; however, the contact was informed that the recall had expired. …”
