Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Rear sliding door suddenly became stuck in the locked position and I am unable to open the door in any way. This is causing my children to have to exit the van on the traffic side of the car. This would also leave my child trapped in the car should an emergency arise or an accident occur on the other side of the van.”

NHTSA complaint #11414534, filed 2021-04, 32,000 miles

“Driver side slider door is locked shut and I cannot open it. I believe the actuator has gone bad. Dodge needs to stand up and take responsibility for the repair on this. There are many, many complaints on this item. The repair cost is way too much considering all the complaints. Stand up and take ownership for your products. That is the best way to earn loyalty from buyers.”

NHTSA complaint #11355492, filed 2020-09, 135,000 miles

“Both the driver side and passenger side rear power sliding doors will not open manually or via the power buttons on the key. The driver side rear door did stopped opening at 38k miles and the passenger side rear door stopped working at 46k. This is a safety issue as we have children in carseats, and we cannot open the doors to remove them.”

NHTSA complaint #11230873, filed 2019-07, 46,250 miles

“I have a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan and every time I unlock the door or lock it it makes this loud buzzing noise, the door works fine it opens and close. But when using the unlock button from the key everyone can hear the load buzzing noise took the car to dealer and they stated the problem was a faulty door lock actuator. They want $650.00 dollars to fix the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11290105, filed 2019-12, 56,000 miles

“The passenger side sliding door automatically locked while I was driving as it should. However once the lock engaged, it would not unlock and the door became inoperable from both the inside and the outside. This is incredibly dangerous, because if there was an emergency I or first responders could not quickly get to my son, especially if the other door were to fail in the same way.”
