NHTSA complaint #10958325, filed 2017-03, 158,000 miles

“After my 1995 4wd Jeep Grand Cherokee is driven for several miles, 15 or more on a hot day, the steering of front wheels become almost impossible and the front wheels tries to lock up and refuses to turn. Going straight ahead the vehicle is fine. But when you try to turn either right or left, the right or left wheel will slide and the vehicle refuses to turn. It appears that the front differential is locked. The vehicle makes bad noises and the whole vehicle jerks. After the vehicle sets for a short time, it will steer ok as if nothing is wrong. …”

NHTSA complaint #10070838, filed 2004-01, 50,000 miles

“There was a recall relating to collision gas tank fires. The Jeep dealer installed what was supposedly a trailer hitch , as a solution to the safety recall. When I offered to pay for an additional installation, of a Jeep trailer hitch related wiring harness, I was told that the just installed trailer hitch could not be used as a trailer hitch! So, my questions and concerns are what did the Jeep dealer _really_ install and can this installed part be safely used as a regular or factory/dealer installed trailer hitch? …”

NHTSA complaint #10747860, filed 2015-08

“It is absolutely rediculous that a gas tank of 5 yrs old is deteriorating. I was asked if I use mobil gas and I don't! This is a poor excuse for a problem that is occurring due to the make of the gas tank! I believe there should be a recall on this problem because it is the manufacturers fault that these parts need to be replaced unusually early on such a young vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #740457, filed 2001-02

“3-08-2010 we have a first years true fit convertible car seat with a dom of 7-16-2008, bought in 4-2009. We do not use the latch system so the top hook stays connected to the seat and not touched other than a normal bump when installing the seat. On 2-21-10 I noticed the top latch hook was off of the car seat. When I went to put it back on the seat I noticed that the thin part of the hook no longer was meeting the fat part and would not stay on the seat. I put the clip back on the seat and installed the seat in the car. …”
