Example complaints

Engine: “On november 27, 2019 I was driving back to my office after completion of a chimney job when my motor went with only 73,660. I then had to have my vehicle towed and that's when my mechanic pulled the valve covers and discovered a broken valve spring that had caused it to drop the valve into the piston which then caused the coolant and oil to mix. In return, this caused a catastrophic failure to the engine. At that point the engine was pulled. It was also noted that the side of the engine block was cracked and bent the oil pan. …”

NHTSA complaint #11318855, filed 2020-03, 73,660 miles

Air bags: “The contact owns a 2014 Ford E-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle suddenly fishtailed, causing the rear passenger side of the vehicle to crash into an unknown object. The contact indicated that the vehicle would only operate in limp mode after the crash. After switching back to the drive position, the vehicle operated normally. During the crash, no injuries were reported, and no police report was filed. The contact used a scanner to determine that the PCU had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. …”

NHTSA complaint #11655888, filed 2025-04

Brakes: “The contact owns a 2014 Ford E-250. While driving various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, a snapping sound was heard coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front driver side inner brake pad had separated. The brake pad was replaced and the vehicle operated normally. The local dealer (basil Ford, 1540 walden ave, cheektowaga, ny) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 24,000.”
