“I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee. While taking my kids to school, I was slowing down when the Jeep just died. I coasted to the side of the road and was able to start the car again. Anytime since then, mainly when slowing down to stop, it would do the same thing. Tried replacing ECM, sensors, etc. Nothing has worked yet. Jeep dealer told us it could be the wiring harness...which we cant find anywhere.”

NHTSA complaint #11318117, filed 2020-03, 120,000 miles

“I would be driving down the road and my Jeep will shut off all by itself and then turn back on all while driving down the expressway doing 75mph my steering wheel and lights and breaks would all lock up then the Jeep would just pop back on and then the RPM's would be really high so I would have to hit the breaks to slow way down so my Jeep wouldn't blow up on me . I've taken it to like 5 mechanics and they can not figure what's wrong with it . …”

NHTSA complaint #11406499, filed 2021-04, 226,000 miles

“I had been driving for maybe 8 minutes at 55 MPH when suddenly the vehicle jumped, stalled and lost power. After gliding to the side of the road, I made 3 attempts to restart in park. It would not restart. After waiting several minutes the car did restart. All of this while people are passing at 60 MPH on a two lane road!! The vehicle is not registering any codes!!”

NHTSA complaint #10556915, filed 2013-12, 124,478 miles

“I was driving vehicle with cruise on doing 55 miles per hour, approx. 8 pm car just shut off and I lost all power. No steering, lights, nothing totally black, key was in ignition and in start position. Within a month the alternator went and my serpentine belt, on 3/29 the water pump went. . There has been a recall for this item for over a year. I have a family member with a 2009 vehicle that has had the ignition fixed.”

NHTSA complaint #10744642, filed 2015-07, 95,000 miles

“The first incident happened when my Jeep Grand Cherokee unknowingly shifted into neutral while driving down my neighborhood road. I was not aware of this until I tried to increase my speed and was not able to. I then had to turn off the car and turn it back on. This has happened three times since 2011.”
