“My Jeep Wrangler recently developed a noticeable steering shimmy/shaking at highway speeds. I hit a bump in the road and almost caused a loss of control. Three Rivers Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (Pittsburgh, PA) documented the concern as “steering shimmy highway speeds” and diagnosed the steering damper as the problem and repaired the problem.”

“Car experiences what is called a death wobble when it goes over a small bump in the road. The steering wheel shakes uncontrollably. Happens when traveling between 40 and 50 mph. I loose complete control of the vehicle. I've taken the car to two experts who both confirmed the problem which started without warning or symptoms about mid May 2023.”

NHTSA complaint #11528500, filed 2023-06

“I have been and currently experiencing the death wobble while going on high speeds on the freeway. It feels like my jeep is out of control as the steering wheel Shakes and the whole car Shakes. I took it to the dealership where they just completed repairs for the shaking and put new suspension on. About two days later, I still experience the same shaking. There are no warning lights that come on.”

NHTSA complaint #11647193, filed 2025-03

“car is less than 3 months old. when I am driving at highway speeds 55-65 mph the steering wheel starts to vibrate and shack to a point, I have to slow down to get control of the wheel once again. the vibration is so bad that some people may lose control of the car. It has happened off and on with no pattern (random). Jeep dealership has NO clue to wat it is.”

NHTSA complaint #11487415, filed 2022-10

“Bought on 3/16 and going home it started wobbling at 60 after hitting a small crack in road. 3/20/24 I was traveling at 70 mph passing a car when I went over cracks on the high way when the death wobble started and would not stop until I was under 50 mph. Appointment with the Jeep Dealer on 3/27/24.”
