“My back up camera says camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership. When I put the car in reverse. I just bought the car two days ago and it started doing this, this morning.”

NHTSA complaint #11246040, filed 2019-08, 111,800 miles

“Had to have transmission replaced at 48,000 miles. I was driving down the road and all of a sudden it just shut off while driving. I was on a city street driving about 40 MPH. I had to call the local police department to have them come park behind the car because multiple people almost hit me while stranded in the middle of the road. Oil pressure light came on for a single split second then went off. Right after the transmission gave out and engine shut off as a way to protect the motor. I was almost hit by several people. I started the car again and it idled fine. …”

NHTSA complaint #11390253, filed 2021-01, 48,000 miles

“Rear camera intermittently fails. The camera operates fine at times, but in many cases, an error appears on the screen indicating the camera is inoperative. I have attempted to stop the car , put it in park, then reverse to see if it woukd reset. It does nit reset. There are times when the camera initially operates but fails as I back up. I have been to Ford dealer and they say that the camera must be replaced. Don't quite get that - why will the camera work fine during knee attempt to backup and then fail during next attempt to backup! The problem began last summer (summer of 2019)”

NHTSA complaint #11300768, filed 2020-01, 60,000 miles

“The rearview camera does not function properly. Most of the time, it shows a blank screen or nothing at all. Sometimes it tells me to contact the dealership. Other times, it shows the camera view but upside down. It puts myself and others at risk because I can't see clearly when I am backing up. The problem is covered by a known recall. However, my vehicle is not covered by the recall.”

NHTSA complaint #11689459, filed 2025-09

“The backup camera rarely works. It either has a black screen, an upside-down image or the image has lines through it. This puts me, my passengers and pedestrians in danger while trying to reverse out of parking spaces. There is a recall for newer Ford Edges but not for a 2013 so Ford is aware of the issue. I also previously owned a different 2013 Ford Edge and it had the same problems.”
