“My 2013 Ford EDGE randomly stalls doesn't matter if I'm turning going slow or straight and going fast. The wrench light will show up. I usually stop, shut it down and restart it. It's pretty frightening. I brought it to the repair shop and they said it might be the throttle bottle. Got that cleaned up which was to dirty and still stalling.”
NHTSA complaint #11276991, filed 2019-10, 76,000 miles“While driving down the road the vehicle will exhibit a full loss of power. After pulling to the side of the road and turning the vehicle off and trying to restart it will experience a long and hard start. The vehicle will do this weather you are driving 5mph or 70 MPH. This is very dangerous and has almost caused me to be in several accidents with my 3 children in the car.”
NHTSA complaint #11102125, filed 2018-06, 70,000 miles“Engine became totally disabled at 50 MPH on a rural county highway.struggled to steer vehicle to shoulder of road because of lost power.fortunately we were on a straight section of road.I can only think that in so many other driving situations this problem could have put us in a life threatening position.Ford really needs to find the problem and fix it!”
NHTSA complaint #10920102, filed 2016-10, 28,000 miles“When stepping on the gas pedal the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle would not die but would not move. The check engine light came on. This happened on multiple occasions once in highway traffic and once at a busy intersection. The dealer told me it was a known problem and that there was nothing I could do to cause the problem or prevent it. Dealer replaced the throttle body assembly for $524.00”
NHTSA complaint #11230401, filed 2019-07, 54,614 miles“Twice now within two days, my wife or I have been driving along at 20-30 MPH through the neighborhood and the vehicle has lost propulsion. I say this because the motor stays running, but doesn't accept input from the gas petal. Service wrench comes on, but vehicle diagnostics come back ok. Turn vehicle off, cranks up and drives fine. The interwebs says its a throttle body issue.”
