Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Attempted to lock door after 'door ajar' chimed on. Slammed door several times but the warning did not go away. Drove to work like this and the doors didn't lock after going 10mph. This occurs everyday. I don't know if my door will open if involved in an accident or what. Nothing has been corrected as of this writing.”

NHTSA complaint #10779609, filed 2015-10, 54,000 miles

“I cannot safely drive at night because the dome light does not turn off while the door ajar alarm is on. My doors do not lock while operating the vehicle while this shows the door is ajar. My dome light stays on for 10+ minutes every time I open or close the door. The consumer stated the front left door had the same failure but, was repaired under recall. The manufacturer would not cover the cost of repairs for the rear left passenger door as it was not a part of the recall.”

NHTSA complaint #11343412, filed 2020-08, 103,091 miles

“Sensor in drivers door latch sends message to dash panel door ajar . This results in a warning bell every time car starts from complete stop. We are concerned there might be something else wrong & we wouldn't notice the warning as it happens so often as we drive.”

NHTSA complaint #10681578, filed 2015-02, 45,800 miles

“The dash says that the door is ajar when it is closed. I have seen where there have been numerous complaints about the sensor or latch going bad. I am having similar problems.”

NHTSA complaint #10928115, filed 2016-11, 58,000 miles

“Driver's side door ajar when the door is positively shut. Numerous attempts to shut the door fail to turn off interior lamps and light on instrument panel. This creates a dangerous situation since I can not depict the difference between a faulty switch or my child actually opening one of the vehicle doors. From the numerous complaints on this issue I am appalled at the lack of response from Ford and the ntsb. Do children have to lose their lives before a recall is initiated? Shame on you!”

NHTSA complaint #10669062, filed 2014-12, 59,000 miles
