“Drivers side rear door will randomly set the cars alarm off saying the door is opened when in fact the door is closed. This has drained my battery once, needing a new replacement. I replaced the door switch because Ford dealership told me it was bad ($400) and it still randomly goes off. This issue has left me stranded several times due to the battery being drained.”

NHTSA complaint #11193212, filed 2019-04, 65,010 miles

“A warning panel declaring that the driver's side door is ajar comes up when the door is not ajar whether we are driving or stationary. Also, another panel directs me to put the vehicle in park when accelerating from a stop. When the door is ajar the interior lights come on which is dangerous at night because it diminishes visibility. It is a safety defect.”

NHTSA complaint #11022583, filed 2017-09, 79,000 miles

“Even though I get in my car and shut the door the door ajar light is coming on (driver door). This causes the light to stay on and I am not able to lock my car doors. I find this to be a large safety issue. It is starting to do this more and more. I currently have to open my door and slam it shut once or multiple times to get the door ajar light to shut off.”

NHTSA complaint #10946644, filed 2017-01, 26,000 miles

“When I close my drivers side door and start my 2013 Ford EDGE, it thinks my door is ajar. This is a latch problem and the vehicle does not recognize that the door is closed. As a result, the doors will not lock. I have seen many complaints of this problem on the web. I am hoping that the NHTSA will force Ford to recall these vehicles and fix the problem”
