NHTSA complaint #10383989, filed 2011-02, 121,000 miles“I believe that the 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a serious safety defect in the front suspension. When hitting a bump, pothole or other uneven road surface at , say, 45 to 65 MPH, the front suspension of the car and the steering column will sometimes go into a violent shake and shimmy that is uncontrollable until you slow the car considerably. This has happened six times since july 28, 2001. It probably occurs when a certain harmonic vibration frequency is developed. I have had the car checked and the stabilizer bar replaced, but the problem persists. …”
NHTSA complaint #10064500, filed 2004-04, 85,000 miles“Steering would make noises whenever turning. It would not return to original position afterwards. Took to several mechanics. Also, driver's door came apart at seams, holding it together with a rope.”
